Our Grapevine and Fort Worth obgyns are happy to provide our patients with a variety of in-office procedures. From screening exams to minimally invasive surgery, women can have a procedure and recover with the help of our caring staff in the comfort of our office. Patients receive local anesthesia and IV sedation as needed.
In-office procedures screen for potential health problems
Screening examinations are in-office procedures that help detect conditions like osteoporosis and cancer. Early detection is always beneficial because treatment is most-effective in the early stages. Our Grapevine and Fort Worth obgyns and staff perform the following procedures.
- Screening mammograms
- Pap smears
- Ultrasounds
Our physicians also order tests for and treat osteopenia and osteoporosis.
Minimally invasive procedures help our physicians diagnose and treat patients
Minimally invasive in-office procedures provide patients with several benefits over traditional, open surgeries. Women who have minimally invasive surgery have fewer complications, faster recoveries and less scarring. Our highly trained obgyns perform these procedures to diagnose and treat health conditions and diseases. Here are some commonly performed surgeries.
- Endometrial ablation helps women who experience heavy menstrual bleeding or irregular periods. Our obgyns dilate the cervix and utilize heated saline fluid or electrosurgery to complete this procedure to destroy the uterine lining, or endometrium.
- During a hysteroscopy with D&C our surgeons utilize a hysteroscope, an instrument that is lighted and flexible, to remove uterine tissue. The tissue may be removed for diagnostic or treatment purposes. Our obgyns perform hysteroscopy to diagnose uterine polyps, cancer, endometrial hyperplasia and uterine bleeding issues. They also recommend this procedure for women who have had miscarriages and need to have tissue cleared from the uterus and for women with a molar pregnancy where a tumor forms instead of an embryo.
- LEEP, or loop electrosurgical excision procedure, is another one of the in-office procedures that can be used for both diagnostic and treatment purposes. During this surgery, our Grapevine and Fort Worth obgyns utilize a heated, wire loop device to remove abnormal tissue, polyps and genital warts.
- During a colposcopy, our obgyns utilize a colposcope, a lighted, magnifying device. This device provides our physicians with an enlarged view of the vagina and cervix. During this diagnostic procedure, our surgeons can also perform tissue biopsies.
